Understand key changes in pension reform

Change text

New proposal makes rules of age, rural retirement and servers more accessible. Text still needs to be voted on

The pension reform proposal was changed. Now the new text brings more accessible rules, such as changes in minimum age, rural retirement, to civil servants and transition rules. The final text, however, still needs to be approved by the House and the Senate.

The minimum age required for retirement was maintained at 65 for men and fixed at 62 for women. The contribution time has not changed and is still 25 years. With the new proposal, a new calculation for the value of retirement was also reached.

The text of the Social Security reform is processed in Congress in the form of a Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC). Once approved in the House, it must be sent to the Senate. There, it will be analyzed by the Constitution and Justice Commission and then by the Plenary where it needs to be approved in two shifts.

If the Senate approves the text as it came from the House, the text will be promulgated by the House and Senate Tables. If there is a change in the proposal, return to the Chamber to be voted again.

New text of the reform brings changes in the rules of access to retirement

The previous proposal stated that in order to have access to the benefit, the worker would have to reach 65 years of age and 25 of contribution. Now, the age of access is different for women, who can obtain retirement from the age of 62. For men, the 65-year rule continues. The rules of transition have also changed.

Pensions and continued benefits gain new rules with current text

By the old proposal, the continued benefits would lose the link with the minimum wage. Now this will be maintained. The minimum age for access was also changed: from 70 years to 65 years. The proposal to change pensions also gained a new text.

Proposal for retirement of servants and politicians is changed

Before, all these workers would have to follow the standard rule defined by the reform, if it were approved by the National Congress: 65 years of age and 25 of contribution. Now some differences have been established.

Rules for rural retirement change with new reform text

Substitutive text brings changes in the age and in the time of contribution, which become less than that of the original proposal. In the previous text, the proposal was that rural workers should follow the same rules as the city: to obtain retirement, it was necessary to reach 65 years of age and 25 years of contribution.
