Senate approves MP that combats frauds and improves the quality of the expenses in the Social Security

New Social Security

Economy generated with new rules should be around R $ 9.8 billion in the first 12 months

The Federal Senate approved the Provisional Measure (MP) 871 in Plenary on Monday night (3), which aims to combat fraud, improve the quality of social security spending and reduce the judicialization of social security issues. The government expects that the measure will generate an economy of R $ 9.8 billion in the first 12 months.

"Who won today was Brazil. The parliament is demonstrating that this is a pattern of Brazilian society. The parliament has done an extraordinary job, "said the Special Secretary for Social Security and Labor of the Ministry of Economy, Rogério Marinho, at the end of the vote.

He pointed out that MP 871 is one of the pillars of the construction of the New Social Security, which also includes the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) 06/2019, which improves the Social Security system; and  Bill No. 1,646 / 2019,  for the collection of large debtors. "It is a process of equity and contributory justice that will enable a fiscal impact, starting a virtuous cycle in our country," he said.

Edited by the federal government on January 18, 2019, the MP's text provides for a careful review of benefits and lawsuits with suspected irregularities at the National Social Security Institute (INSS), as well as changing rules for granting benefits, seclusion, death pension and rural retirement. MP 871 was approved with 55 votes in favor and 12 against.

Federal Senate President David Alcolumbre highlighted the importance of the session. "I thank publicly the senators who came to exercise their parliamentary exercise, respecting the Brazilian people, knowing the responsibility of voting on this provisional measure that interests the whole country," he said.
