InovAtiva Brasil is in 1st place in the ranking of 100 Open Startups

Publication highlights the program as the main accelerator of innovation projects and startups in 2019

The startup acceleration program of the Ministry of Economy, InovAtiva Brasil, ranked first in the  Top 10 Ecosystem ranking  of the publication 100 Open Startups, used as a reference by large corporations and investors to identify the main innovation players in Brazil.

InovAtiva - considered the largest startup acceleration program in Latin America - led the ranking with 40 points, followed by Sebrae (25 points), Endeavor, AHK and Fapesp (with 16 points) each).

In the evaluation of the Undersecretary of Innovation of the Ministry of Economy, Igor Nazareth, the award reinforces the commitment of the Special Secretariat for Productivity, Employment and Competitiveness (Sepec) with entrepreneurship and support for innovative businesses. "Small businesses have special government attention. Startups, in particular, in addition to generating innovation and technology, can help Brazil to have, more and more, better productivity and competitiveness indexes, "he says.

The rankings of 100 Open Startups sought to recognize innovative companies open to implementing solutions in conjunction with large companies. According to executives of the publication, InovAtiva was the most cited program by the startups listed in the 2019 edition. "The mentoring we offer at InovAtiva helps companies to grow and connect with other entrepreneurs, mentors, investors and large companies. In addition, in the program's Bootcamps and Demodays, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to present their ideas to the largest investor bank in the country, "explains Nazareth.

The undersecretary of Innovation recalls that in 2017 the program was chosen by the OECD as an international benchmark of innovation in the public sector and last year InovAtiva was elected the country's Best Accelerator in the award of the Brazilian Association of Startups (Abstartups) .

Accomplished by the Ministry of Economy, Sebrae and Fundação Certi, InovAtiva Brasil accelerates, free of charge, startups in the validation, operation and traction stages. More than 700 volunteer mentors, representatives of large companies like Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Siemens and Embraer, participate in the program.

Since 2013, two thousand startups have received training and more than 800 startups have presented their solutions to investors and large companies. The Impact Innovation, launched in 2016, has acceleration cycles aimed exclusively at startups that have an "impact business", as those ventures that have the potential to generate profit and at the same time solve a social or environmental problem.

In the ranking of startups, 100 Open Startups analyzed 8,600 innovative companies this year in four areas: Top Challenges , Top Sectors , Top Innovation Trends and Applications ). Forty of these lists have included programs run by the Ministry of Economy and partners: InovAtiva Brasil (acceleration), InovAtiva de Impacto (acceleration of impact businesses) and StartOut Brasil (internationalization).

The 100 Open Startups also released a list of the top 200 "evaluators", professionals responsible for estimating how much a startup will count in the future.
