Industrial production grows and registers better performance since 2013

IBGE

Factories resume production at an accelerated pace, and growth is widely disseminated among all branches and activities

The industry has left the recession definitely in the past. In October, factories resumed operating strongly and output grew 5.3% compared to the same month last year - the best performance in this kind of comparison since 2013. These numbers also represent a bet in the future. Industrialists, by increasing the pace and volume of manufacturing, signal confidence in the country and the growth of the economy.

The data are from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and were released on Tuesday (5). The survey also reveals that the growth recorded in the month was the sixth consecutive positive rate in this type of comparison. This information reinforces the assessment that the industry is stronger and that the worst of the crisis is behind.

Given this performance, industrial production recorded a cumulative increase of 1.9% in the year. In 12 months, the increase is 1.2%. According to the survey, the growth of the industry is widespread. In October, 22 of the 26 surveyed sectors showed progress. Of the 79 groups of items observed, 79 were positive, and 61.9% of the 805 products surveyed performed well.

Disseminated growth

According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the segment of motor vehicles, trailers and bodies, whose growth was 27.4%, was the one with the greatest positive influence in the month. The institution explained that this performance was driven mainly  by the greater manufacture of "cars, tractor-trailer for trailers and semitrailers, trucks, vehicles for transporting goods and auto parts."
