Inactive account withdrawals will inject R $ 35 billion into the economy

Worker

Only on the first day of withdrawals, about R $ 3.3 billion

With the high volume of onlendings of the FGTS accounts, the expectation of the resources that will be injected into the economy has increased. Instead of the R $ 30 billion announced, it is expected that more than R $ 35 billion will stimulate the economy in the coming months. The value represents an impact of 0.5% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), sum of all goods and services produced in the country).

Only last Friday  (10), about R $ 3.3 billion were withdrawn. The amounts were released by Caixa Econômica Federal during more than 530 thousand visits in 1,841 branches of the bank.

According to the president of Caixa, Gilberto Occhi, the financial movement in the agencies reached almost half of the total value to be drawn by those born in January and February, which is R $ 6.97 billion.

After meeting with President Michel Temer, Occhi reported that of the R $ 3.260 billion, almost R $ 2 billion were credited directly to the beneficiaries' current account, which made it necessary for citizens to attend the agencies in person.

According to the calendar released by the government, from April 10, money will be released for those born in March, April and May. Gilberto Occhi said the bank is studying the possibility of opening the branches one Saturday before the 10th of next month, that is, day 8, for workers to regularize pending issues such as updating data and documents. The reason, according to him, is that during the holiday of Holy Week, this will not be possible.

From May, those born in June, July and August will have access to the resources of the inactive accounts. The birthdays of September, October and November will be able to withdraw the values to which they are entitled as of June 16. Finally, from July, the money will be released for those born in December. In total, there are 49.6 million inactive accounts able to have the amounts released
