The Ministry of Agriculture estimates that the harvest will be 240 million tons
The Gross Value of Production (VBP) in agriculture and livestock production is expected to reach R $ 536 billion this year. The estimate was released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (Map), based on the projects of the grain harvest, which is expected to reach 240 million tons.
One of the factors that supported the forecast was the increase in productivity, which increased by 22.3%. "There is no record of percentages like this in previous cycles," said Jose Garcia Gasques, general coordinator of Studies and Analysis of the Secretariat of Agricultural Policy (SPA).
The 20 main crops have a real increase of 9.8% and livestock production, a decrease of 6%. The value of the crops is R $ 367.6 billion. Corn and soybean crops account for 44.7% of the value of plantations. Livestock production is estimated at R $ 168.4 billion.
Among the products that stand out most are cotton (17.1%), rice (18.8%), beans (21.7%), maize (32.1%) and soybeans (17.1% %). Second-crop beans increased by 27.2%; The maize of the second crop, of 43.4%. According to information from IBGE and Conab, these numbers are practically consolidated.
The VBP data show that São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Paraná, Minas Gerais and Rio Grande do Sul are the states with the highest level of billing, representing 54.7% of total VBP. The South and Center-West regions account for most of the gross value, followed by the Southeast, the Northeast and the North.
This year's favorable results enabled the recovery of some states such as Piauí, Bahia and Maranhão, which last year had strong economic losses due to drought problems, especially.
