Based on current legislation, the economic team presented the value of the salary base for Brazilian workers in 2018
Predicting higher economic growth and controlled inflation, the federal government will propose a minimum wage of R $ 979 for the year 2018. The new amount will be included in the draft Budgetary Guidelines Law (PLDO) for 2018, which will be sent to National Congress next Thursday (13).
This Friday (07), the economic team announced the parameters of the PLDO, which serve as the basis for the Budget. This year, the value of the minimum wage is R $ 937. As last year's economy growth was negative, the value will be corrected for the inflation of 2017, projected at 4.3% by the government, as provided by the rule of valuation of the minimum Approved by the National Congress.
For the next few years, the minimum wage is expected to rise above inflation, given the economic recovery. In 2019, it is estimated that the minimum wage is R $ 1,029, and the following year, R $ 1,103.
In announcing the new minimum wage, Minister of Planning, Development and Management, Dyogo Oliveira, pointed out that the federal government's projections are realistic, transparent and in line with financial market estimates.
"As we have done since the beginning of the new government, we have tried to be very transparent about the fiscal policy and the figures presented," the minister reiterated during a press conference.
