GDP growth in the second quarter points to 2018 "promising", says Planning

Resume

In the evaluation of the ministry, result also points to recovery of the economy still in 2017

The 0.2% advance of the Brazilian economy in the second quarter points to the resumption of growth until the end of the year and to a "promising" economic activity in 2018. The evaluation was made by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management on Friday, (1), which reiterated confidence in the follow-up of economic reforms.

"The performance of the economy between April and June confirms the government's expectations that the second half of 2017 will be even more favorable to economic activity, leading to a very promising 2018 year," the briefing said in a statement.

In the evaluation of Planning, the withdrawal of inactive accounts from the FGTS, which injected R $ 44 billion directly into the economy, and the reduction of interest from the revolving credit were decisive in raising household consumption and strengthening growth.

"It is worth saying that, in the coming months, other measures favorable to economic growth should achieve similar results, ensuring the continuation of activity, employment and income, in a solid and sustainable way," the ministry added.
