ESocial program for companies begins to be implemented on January 8

Companies

The purpose of the system is to bureaucratize the administration of information about workers and facilitate the provision of data on tax and labor obligations

The implementation of the eSocial program will start on January 8, 2018 for companies with annual revenues in excess of R $ 78 million, reports the IRS. ESocial, also known as the Digital Bookkeeping System for Tax, Social Security and Labor Obligations, will contemplate 13,707 companies in the first phase.

Other employers, such as micro and small enterprises and individual microentrepreneurs (MEIs), will be able to register as of July 16, 2018. For public entities, the start date is January 14, 2019. The objective of the system is to bureaucratize the administration of information about workers and to facilitate the provision of data regarding tax, social security and labor obligations. The result is the reduction of costs and time in the execution of 15 fiscal, social security and labor obligations of the companies.

"The main premise of eSocial is the unique input of data that will feed the data base of the control entities," explained the special advisor of the Federal Revenue Service for eSocial, Altemir Melo, referring to the Federal Revenue Service, Caixa Econômica Federal, Instituto National Social Security (INSS) and Ministry of Labor.

"Our database will also have the participation of the taxpayers themselves, and the big paradigm shift is that eSocial will now be a flow." The system that companies have today is being adjusted to communicate with the national base. event registered in the company, such as the admission of a worker, will be replicated to the national base of eSocial, in order to share the data with the control entities, "Melo added.

Database

The government will create, with information from approximately eight million companies, a database of more than 40 million workers. With this, eSocial will monitor social security and labor rights and make the process simpler, more transparent and more agile for companies. Thus, eSocial will reduce penalties for erroneous or disparate data and unify employers' obligations. Government oversight will be strengthened with the tool, in addition to increasing the possibility of implementing social programs.
