Center Paula Souza and IBM present educational model P-Tech

Project, implemented in the first half of this year in Fatecs, a theoretical content with practical experiences

The Paula Souza Center (CPS) and IBM brought together representatives from companies in the Information Technology sector, city halls and other institutions to present the P-Tech educational model.

The program combines the theoretical content of vocational training with practical experiences within the company. In addition, P-Tech makes unprecedented in the public institutions of the country the articulation of the Middle, Technical and Higher Education. The objective of the meeting was to present the model for potential future partners in the expansion of the program.

"Our job is to unite the two ends: to help the companies and to facilitate the access of young paulistas to the labor market," explained the secretary. "We can even reduce evasion if the student knows that at the end of the course he will have a job opportunity," said State Economic Development Secretary Patricia Ellen da Silva.

P-Tech was implemented in the first half of 2019 at Fatecs Americana, Campinas, and East Zone, in the capital, with 40 openings in each unit in the afternoon. Admission is through the High School with Professional Technical Qualification in Systems Development, which, in addition to the three thousand regular hours of the course, has over 200 hours of experience within IBM.

Diplomas

At the conclusion of the three-year cycle, students will be able to complete the technological superior course of Systems Analysis and Development in two more years of study at Fatec, without the need for a new Vestibular. In this way, in five years, the student will have the diplomas of the High School, Technician and Superior Technological - currently, it takes six years.

"The main differential of this new modality of teaching is the possibility of applying what you learn in the classroom in the real working environment, within a company," said CPS Director-Superintendent Laura Laganá. "That is why we want to open the possibility of new partnerships with the private initiative to expand the access of young people to this new model of training," he adds.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the following companies and institutions: Accenture, Brazilian Association of Human Resources (ABRH-SP), Cognizant, Conquest One, Fluunt7, Innovision, São Caetano do Sul Institute of Technology (Itescs), Lesap Consultoria Empresarial, MicroPower, Oncoclinicas, Oracle, Santo André City Hall, São Caetano do Sul City Hall, São Carlos City Hall and UHG.
