With this replacement, the bank is missing $ 42 billion to meet the goal of returning $ 126 billion by the end of the year

The president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), Gustavo Montezano, announced the return of $ 40 billion to the National Treasury. The bank aims to return to public coffers $ 126 billion by the end of 2019. The announcement was made during an interview with journalists at the Ministry of Economy, this Tuesday (6/8).

"We came here today to deliver the return letter of over $ 40 billion," said Montezano. “With this, we totaled the payment of R $ 84 billion from BNDES in the Treasury line. Remembering that this is our third goal (announced during his inauguration), aligned with the Ministry of Economy: we will return R $ 126 billion by the end of the year. We are happy to be able, in such a short term, to fulfill a substantial part of this target, while preserving the bank's liquidity and capitalization situation in a very stable way, ”he explained.

According to the president of BNDES, the return would represent an impact of about 1% of the federal public debt, today accumulated at approximately R $ 3.9 trillion. With this return, R $ 42 billion will be missing for the financial institution to meet the goal set by the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes.

Montezano said the bank's projections for disbursement are under review and that the target set at $ 70 billion annually may change according to the new calculations. This is because until the first half of this year BNDES disbursed $ 25 billion and to achieve the expected, would need an acceleration in the second half.
