Reduction in ticket prices coincides with increased demand for domestic flights

Traveling by plane was cheaper in November. Ticket prices were down 10% on average compared to October. This is what indicated the National Extended Consumer Price Index (IPCA), prepared by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The tickets ranked second in the ranking of 15 products that had the biggest drop in prices, behind only the food group.

This downward movement in prices was accompanied by an increase in the demand for area tickets: among domestic flights, growth was 7.7% in October, compared to the same month last year.

Research conducted in November indicates that 51% of Brazilians intending to travel will do it by plane. In November 2016, the index was 48.4%. Therefore, for the Ministry of Tourism,  the sector reinforces the signs of economic recovery in the country.

In addition, the airline industry had the second best performance increase in the Tourism Economic Performance Bulletin in the third quarter of this year. The survey gathers seven segments of the area.
