Goiania and its neighboring area have very rich agricultural production. Cattle raising is also an important secondary activity associated with agriculture. The importance of agriculture to the city’s economy has also given birth to the food processing industry (tomato canning). The main agricultural produce of the city are sunflower oil, cotton and soybean.
The second largest industry after agriculture is that of vehicle sales and services. Sale and repair of cars is done in all parts of the city. Goiania has one of the highest number of vehicles per capita in Brazil.

It is only a 2-hour drive from Brasilia (capital of Brazil), which makes it accessible to tourists. Also, the city is equidistant from almost all other Brazilian states. The government is making efforts to promote business tourism. Furniture, mining and textile industries also make significant contributions to the city’s economy.
Currently, the telecommunication industry is expanding rapidly in the city and many large Brazilian telecommunication companies have made Goiania their home. The major employers are Public administration, commerce, education and health.

Since Goiania is a planned city, it is easy to navigate. The railway connection of the city is not developed and all the transportation takes place only via roads.
