Invest in Goiania

Goiania is the capital of the state of Goias of Brazil. It is also the largest city of the state. It is also the thirteenth largest city of Brazil and the second largest one in the central West region of the nation. Goiania is the greenest city of Brazil (second greenest in the world) with the highest green cover/population ratio.

Today, Goiania is home to diverse industries, but originally agriculture was the most important industry of the city. Even today, a major part of the economic activity of the city is constituted by manufacture and supply of agricultural machines and equipments, fertilizers and other related tools. Goiania and its neighboring area have very rich agricultural production. Cattle raising is also an important secondary activity associated with agriculture. The importance of agriculture to the city’s economy has also given birth to the food processing industry (tomato canning). The main agricultural produce of the city are sunflower oil, cotton and soybean.

The second largest industry after agriculture is that of vehicle sales and services. Sale and repair of cars is done in all parts of the city. Goiania has one of the highest number of vehicles per capita in Brazil.

An important contributor to the city economy is the government sector thanks to its status of being the state capital. A large number of people are employed by state and federal government agencies.

Another important industry of the city is tourism. The city of Goiania is located very strategically. It is only a 2-hour drive from Brasilia (capital of Brazil), which makes it accessible to tourists. Also, the city is equidistant from almost all other Brazilian states. The government is making efforts to promote business tourism. Furniture, mining and textile industries also make significant contributions to the city’s economy.

Currently, the telecommunication industry is expanding rapidly in the city and many large Brazilian telecommunication companies have made Goiania their home. The major employers are Public administration, commerce, education and health.

The city of Goiania is home to some of the best universities of Brazil. Thus, businesses setting up shops here have a supply of well-trained and qualified workforce. The crime rate in the city is lesser than that of several other Brazilian cities.

The infrastructure of the city is very good and the government is in the process of making it world class. Goiania is well connected by road to Brasilia. Several new roads are being built and the existing ones are being expanded. The airport is also being modernized to attract investment from private sector. Since Goiania is a planned city, it is easy to navigate. The railway connection of the city is not developed and all the transportation takes place only via roads.

The infrastructure is being developed at a rapid rate. The authorities of the city are committed to making it a preferred destination for private sector investment.
